TREE SAVER SIZING — ANCHOR WITHOUT KILLING THE TREE

Tree Saver Strap Calculator — Get the Right Width and WLL for Your Winch

A tree saver that’s too narrow damages bark and can be cited by land managers. One that’s too narrow for the load can also fail.

Enter your winch line pull rating and tree diameter. The calculator returns the minimum tree saver strap width and WLL required for your recovery.

No regulation sets a minimum tree saver width. Federal land managers prohibit damaging trees (36 CFR §261.9, 43 CFR §8341.1) but prescribe no dimension. A wider strap spreads the load and protects the bark; 3 inches is the common manufacturer standard.

Winch users, trail riders, and off-road recovery operators using trees as anchor points.
